Here's how you can insure that the work of Scarboro Missions will continue.
Bequest in a Will
You can leave a specific amount of money or a percentage of your estate or residue or part of the residue to Scarboro Missions. If you don't have a Will, talk to your family and consult a lawyer.
Life Insurance
You can make Scarboro Missions the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or you can donate a paid-up policy. Both yield generous tax benefits.
Strip Bonds
This is a simple new form of Planned Giving that provides considerable future funding for Scarboro Missions through the purchase and donation of a Government or Utility Strip Bond and results in immediate tax benefits to you.
Assets and Property
Art, collections, rare books, antiques and other assets are as good as cash gifts, and you can enjoy the same tax benefit. Residential and commercial property can be donated as an outright or residual-interest gift.
Securities
Stock, bonds, GICs and other securities can also be donated to Scarboro Missions.
Gift Annuities
By purchasing a Gift Annuity, you can have pension income for your retirement and, at the same time, assist the work of Scarboro Missions. With your gift annuity, you will receive a guaranteed income for life, as well as immediate tax benefits. The income you earn is partially, and sometimes, totally tax free.
Remainder Trusts
You can establish a trust to guarantee payments to Scarboro Missions while you gain significant tax savings now.
The Scarboro Foreign Mission Society is a Canadian community of Catholic priests and lay men and women committed to the mission of Jesus Christ. We were founded almost 90 years ago by Msgr. John Mary Fraser to work as missionaries in China and to promote the Reign of God, primarily overseas in cross-cultural situations, on behalf of the Catholic Church in Canada.
Founded as China Missions, the focus of our work has evolved over the years. Today we accompany the poor and people of other faith traditions in Malawi, Thailand, China, Japan, Ecuador, Guyana, Brazil, the Philippines, the Bahamas and here in Canada.
We are a registered charity under the Province of Ontario and the Roman Catholic Bishops of Ontario are members of our Corporation.
